BIOGRAPHY

Linda Swann, born in the UK, lives and works in London. A practicing artist since the 1970’s, studied Foundation Studies at Epsom School of Art and for a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham.

As a painter, she began to explore working in a geometric style from the 1980’s, influenced initially by 20th Century art and design, from the Bauhaus to Bridget Riley.  At the same time becoming aware of geometric pattern and its uses in many cultures around the world.  A history with a very long tradition stretching way beyond Modernism.  Inspiration therefore comes from many sources, from the universality of geometric pattern in applied art, to the mathematical symmetries found in architecture and music.
